1.12.6. Challenge 5 - Create and Seal a Smart envelopeΒΆ

Your fifth and the last task is to create your first Smart envelope and attach a document to it.

There are two main ways to create an envelope:

  • Create a new one (compose)

  • Choose a received document and forward it

If you have not received any envelope yet, then your inbox is empty. If you do see some envelopes in the Inbox, they might be important - so better not mess around with those.

What we suggest you do:

  1. Compose a new envelope.

  2. Upload a new document from your computer.

  3. Set the document type to the Master bill of lading.

  4. Explore editing the document properties.

  5. Add the number of the document.

  6. Select the designated release agent.

  7. Enter an email or two in the notify party section (can be your email address, or your co-workers).

  8. On the next tab add some tags.

  9. When done, click Save and return to the envelope.

  10. Provide a message below.

  11. Because in the previous task you have already connected with several companies in your Contacts section, you can now select a recipient for your envelope.

  12. When you are done, seal the envelope. A sealed document is prepared for sending.

Creating and sending the document of title (such as the Master B/L used in this exercise) involves a service charge. Therefore we suggest to stop at this point - before sending the document. If you would, however, like to complete the transfer, you could click the Transfer button, and sign the transfer with your blockchain key.

You did it. Bravo!

To automate this step and prevent repetitive work we would like to invite you to explore options of integrating the CargoX Platform via our API. Integrating it with your backend/ERP system will drastically speed up the process of preparing and sending documents. Read more in the CargoX Platform API and technical documentation.
